Screenabl can be used by any system which can send simple text commands via TCP or UDP (and/or keyboard).
The app allows you to configure an IP and port to listen for UDP commands, and act on any command coming in.
TCP connections are "subscribed" to, and any command that is sent from the server will be processed and can control the components of Screenabl.
Check out the How-To guides for Connecting to Axia and Connecting to Wheatstone.
Short answer: Yes
Screenabl connects to it's own dedicated servers to deliver the weather information to your application, so needs to be connected to the internet so that the weather section does now show an ugly error message. Any RSS feeds on profiles you have set up would also require a connection to be refreshed.
All licenses come with a grace period and if your application has not validated itself on a regular basis (depending on what subscription your on), the app could also stop working.
That said.... if you don't care about the weather and you will only be using the app for a short period (within the grace period of the last check-in), it'll work fine.
Absolutely!
Screenabl can be triggered by simple keyboard commands on location, or if your remote systems are capable, can be triggered using the UDP or TCP commands as if it were in a studio.
For TCP/UDP - as long as the app is on the same network as the source, it will respond to any TCP/UDP commands it receives (from source it's been configured with).
Yes.
Version 1.1.0 of Screenabl now allows you to choose which display each of the application windows will open on. This allows you to have the Settings window open on one display (eg/ on monitor in producer air-lock), and the Main App open on another (eg/ In the studio). This also allows you to use the a computer with other software on the primary display, while having Screenabl display on an external monitor.
If you disconnect a preferred display, the window will simple jump back to use the primary display. If the disconnected display is reconnected, it will jump back to the preferred display.
Another options is to simply "duplicate" any attached display (via Windows Display settings) and output the same screen as the primary. Screenabl doesn't charge "per physical screen", so if you can run a HDMI cable to a screen from the machine running the app, you can show it all around your studio.
For situations where running a cable isn't an option (eg/ studio to reception), future releases of Screenabl plan to implement a slave/master approach, allowing you to duplicate a screens settings over the network.
Yes.
Screenabl is built to run off the local system clock but if configured to show a remote timezone for the clock, it will show the correct date/time for the zone selected relative to the local time.
If the second clock feature is enabled, that clock will also show the correct date/time for the configured timezone.
Currently Screenabl only supports English. Future versions will have language support.
Any resolution!
Screenabl auto-scales to suit whatever screen it's connected to. If it's a 24" or a 85" screen, it will display in Full HD quality on any screen.
Yes.
Each profile can be configured to show a logo in the top of the app to compliment the aesthetic and maintain consistency of your studio and stay on brand. Logos can be easily added and configured via the settings.
Not at this stage.
To maintain the quality of the visual aspect of Screenabl, the fonts and colors can not be modified at this time.
Future releases of Screenabl plan to have a theming option.
This depends on the subscription level you are signed up for.
BASIC plans come with 1 profile, PRO comes with 3, and ULTIMATE comes with unlimited profiles.
Not directly built in.
Although, each profile you set up can have a "direct trigger" configured so you can switch directly to that profile.
This could be coupled with any system to change to a specific profile when a user swipes an RF entry card, or daily panel schedule etc. If the system can send a TCP/UDP command, then profiles can be switched to directly to match.
Screenabl is designed to be highly versatile and can run on any Windows 8+ machine without requiring any custom hardware, which makes it easy to set up and install in any location that suits your needs.
It also has performance toggles in the setting window which can be disabled if the machine running it seems to be sluggish, to help keep it running and looking smooth.
Unfortunately not.. Yet.
Future releases are planned to be able to receive trigger events from the Serial Ports.
Well!
Screenabl will auto-retry and connect to any TCP servers it's using, as well as gracefully retry loading weather and RSS feeds.
It has a connection monitor which is available in the top right of the screen for quick visual reference when there are any connection issues (and hidden when everything is okay)
Unfortunately not.. Sorry!
Future releases may run on iOS/Android devices and possibly Mac computers.
There is future plans to create a Producer Companion App, which will allow you to control Screenabl from outside the studio. This is planned to run on Windows and possibly iOS/Android devices.
We've got plenty of ideas in the pipeline, such as:
- Built in profile scheduling
- Real time poll results
- Instant announcer onscreen alert messaging
- Color/font Theming
- Master / Slave approach for additional screens which are not close to primary (eg/ Studio > reception)
- Simplified "studio door" on-air version
- Simplified "producer only" version
- Multi-language support
- Remote/central configuration
